ASHES TO ASHES
From roots firmly planted in ground,
entwined in earth’s heavenly surrounds.
Courting flashes of lightening strikes,
dear hallowed tree of sacred rites.
World tree Yggdrasil of Druids staff,
what you offer will come back.
Pillar of strength, balance and fertility,
magickal inspirations of ingenuity,
Awareness of your self in the world,
is how interconnectedness returns.
Like casting stones into a pond,
creating ripples swirling on and on.
I am a spirit tree said the Ash,
‘what you offer will come back’
Stand headstrong, in eye of storm,
into conflicts, never be drawn.
Be grounded and of belonging,
this is how spirit of light gets in.

ASHES TO ASHES
Celtic Tree of the Month
Ash ~ Feb 18 to March 17
Ogham Name: Nion. Meaning Heaven.
Tree Meaning: Connection, Wisdom, Surrender
Ash is the world tree, Yggdrasil. This is a symbol of passage between the worlds, creativity and connections, as the world tree connects us all. It reminds us we should be mindful of our actions because for each action there is a consequence that can effect others as well as ourselves.
Yggdrasil Midgard (Old Norse: “Miðgarðr”) “middle earth” is located in the middle of the world, below Asgard. Midgard and Asgard are connected by Bifrost the Rainbow Bridge. Midgard is surrounded by a huge ocean that is impassable.
The Ocean is occupied by a huge sea serpent, the Midgard Serpent. The Midgard serpent is so huge that it encircles the world entirely, and biting its own tail. Odin and his two brothers Vili and Ve created the humans from an Ash log, the man and from an elm log, the woman.
She tapped her finger against her lips
casting a rune made of Rowan twigs.
Charms that were carved into staves,
drawn to express emotions and create.
Magical, whispering Rowan tree of power,
causing happiness and magic to flower.
Protector from the witches evil eye,
or the dead lingering on when they die.
Red berry tonics, of flame and fire,
what does your heart and soul desire?
Psychic powers, for spells of healing,
You will find all negative forces receding.

Eat hazelnuts when you are in need of insight or knowledge about something from a higher perspective. The hazel’s unusual branch formations make it a delight to ponder, and was often used for inspiration in art, as well as poetry.
It was dark, damp and cold,
as the bleak winter, had took hold.
But, little did i know,
i fearlessly continued, to rise up and grow.
Fighting persistently, for my survival,
is fundamentally vital.
Determined with strength and might,
i shot up, towards the brightest lights.
Twisting, changing, winding, ever turning,
upwards, ever green, growing with yearning.
In my quest for life survival,
my vision had become undeniable.
Bounding skywards, with daring and strength,
i sought pleasure, in the joy of happiness.
In the survival of my species,
these Ivy leaves, continue, striving and reaching.
Learning the warrior codes, in determined spirit,
this wild, Ivy, will never, accept any limits.
I’ve learned a lot from the Ivy vine…
… “to keep on growing upwards, at all times”
