Don’t Fall For It

DON’T. F A L L FOR IT
N.n.n.n.n.no! he stuttered,
I don’t think so,
this perversion has to go.

In the chronicles of Victorian times,
photo’s of nude children, were fine.
Curiously some assumptions began,
from a wannabe psycho analyst man.

There is no evidence to presume,
Lewis Carroll was a deviant of abuse.
Guesswork and conjecture, runs rife,
however, he was big hearted and nice.

His adoration and affection of child,
doesn’t imply that he had defiled.
I believe, ‘Goldschmidt’ was confused,
in 1933 he hoped for sensational news.

That smear campaign of slander,
has continued on with propaganda.
Tall stories have eventuated from books,
that psilocybin and hookah was mistook.

It’s clear, that, our epileptic genius; Mr Carroll,
wrote about seizures, seen from rabbit hole.
Nothing factual has ever been approved,
however, I object, that he is being accused.

Don’t go falling for that jumbled up hype,
‘Alice through the looking Glass’
was noted for your delight.

How do I know?
Because I have temporal lobe epilepsy
and this is, how it feels, so!

Fact Checking:

November is epilepsy awareness month (Day 22)

STOP THE STIGMA

‘According to Neurologist Paul Spiers: Lewis Carroll was probably writing about his temporal lobe seizures. The very sensation initiating Alice’s adventures ~ That of falling down a hole ~ is described in seizures by people with TLE.

Alice has frequent attacks of jamais vu which make her spatially insecure and she has sudden unprompted changes in emotions’ (P. 69-70)

‘The Hypergraphia of Lewis Carroll, van Gogh, Tennyson and Dostoevsky is well documented’ (P. 134)

There are many successful authors, artists, musician’s and creative people who have had epilepsy.  Lewis Carroll, Vincent Van Gogh, to name a few and they all had an enormous creative drive.

The Big Question

Victorians saw childhood as a state of grace;

Today, much of the psychoanalytic criticism of Alice seems out-dated, unsurprising since most of it was written over fifty years ago.

In 1945, Florence Becker Lennon advanced the case that Dodgson had had an unhealthy attraction to Alice with Victoria Through the Looking Glass, the first modern critical biography of him as speculation.

THE DODO

The popular story is that Carroll used the (Dodo) bird as his caricature because his stammer made him sometimes introduce himself as “Do-Do-Dodgson,”

Just wanted to say thanks to all of my readers for your support, although I’m feeling so frustrated atm. In my campaign to promote better understanding of epilepsy and the famous people who have had this condition, I have been shunned again.

As a poet who generally publishes (well researched material), in many other groups, I’ve found that since I began this November promotion for #epilepsyawareness , many of my poems have been declined.

I think that this is, because once I mention ‘THAT’ word ‘epilepsy’ (as in real life) … people back away.

Am I wrong to think this?
