There’s Safety in Numbers

In Numerology the Tarot card for December is:

(Key 12) The Hanged Wo/Man

Meaning: Reversal.

As if suspended by the feet, like a pendulum at rest. The Hanged person represents someone who is poised in consciousness and under perfect control. S/he is conscious of the one power everywhere, yet centred in their self.

While not all of us have acrobatic flair, or spare aerial hoops and circus trapezes, just happening to be hanging from the ceilings in our lounge rooms, we all have the ability see our world upside down. When we use any kind of ‘inversion’ therapy, it helps tune into our mental focus, balance, and brain function. In a karaoke carpool with Jeremy Corden, my fave girl crush; P!nk revealed that she sometimes sounds better when singing upside down. “It has to be a scientific thing,” she said. She’s not wrong.

Yes, it sounds bizarre, but it’s true, that any kind of reversal is a powerful way to see the world through new eyes. This posture can make you feel happier and more energetic, due to the increased blood flow to the brain.

Can you do a headstand? whoa, did your eyes just roll? …  ahem, yes, okay, in the real world, if you are like me, we are not all ‘that’ athletic, but there are other ways to get ‘your head upside down’ Your first step to getting there could be by practising the easy yoga pose of a ‘Downward Facing Dog’

The Origin

“We walk by faith, not by sight.” -- Paul the Apostle

The Origin
There is a sacred divinity within us all,
a still, small voice of tenderness; calls.
It’s in our ‘hearts, soul and understanding,
our spiritual desires, evermore entrancing.

It’s a longing, we are all yearning to find,
with devout prayer and meditative mind.
It’s in the psyche, the magic, the mystery,
an insightful zone, uplifting to perceive.

The truth is, ‘In’ there, it is not with out,
a silence, you will hear, as it may shout.
In ancient times, it was known as a gift,
whereas today, that seems to contradict?

Originally, known as, sacred and divine,
now known as evil, distorted over time.
What, why, when, where did this change,
into the demonic and dread fully strange.

Hidden in plain sight, the truth is ‘in’ there,
It’s been written in the bible, to be fair.
From Ezeikel, Paul to Teresa of Avila,
their epilepsy gifts were written so clear.

Links with epilepsy and religion hold a key,
so what has changed in our neuro-theology?
Those ghastly myths and misconceptions,
were caused by clueless, secular projections.

Condemnation, is the mistaking of the past,
the knowledge of science, should now hold. Fast.

heard ‘The Voice’ calling out her name,
most thought, ‘that’ was crazy or insane.
Wait! ‘Was the speaker, inside or out?’
that definitive, communion shout.

What if?
‘She’ was like Harriet Tubman or Alice,
would she still have taken that challenge?
Alice, trained in questioning of the hare,
and Harriet guiding her people, to be fair.

‘She’d’ known what had to be done,
that she was to be the chosen one.
A pretty, androgynous sort of chick,
what she did, was groovy and hip.

‘Her’ habit of wearing men’s clothes,
a mortal sin, back then, I suppose.
‘Her’ hairstyle neither feminine or girly,
a neat bob, instead of long and curly.

‘She’ who was courageous and true,
not giving a flick about others views.
‘She' walked a faithful, trusted path,
how inspirational and visionary is that?

‘She’ hadn’t been disturbed or afraid,
believing she had to give, what she gave.
‘She’ a crusader and a soldier of light,
a messenger, motivating and bright,

Some were boggled out of their mind,
yet, following to see, what she’d find.
It was a brutally rigged inquisition,
thereafter, the success of their mission.

It was a shock and revelation to learn,
the clerics called her a ‘witch’ to burn.
She, an exemplar of unshakeable faith,
her courage, meant battles were saved.

In liberation of legacy now left,
as she herself, had truly kept.

Spirited, inspirational and brave,
multitudes, in her life she’s saved.
Under the dark shadows of night,
courageous and brave in her fight.

Guided by ‘Polaris’ the Northern star,
shepherding, her enslaved people far.
She had ‘Eyes in the back of her head’

A true disciple and warrior devotee,
hearing God’s true words consistently.
Never one to run away, or back down,
leading the oppressed to higher ground.

A promise that she had made,

Epilepsy and Spiritual States

Epilepsy was associated religious fervour since the time of Hippocrates. Some believed that the visions and deep spiritual experiences of several famous prophets, including Ezekiel, Buddha, Mohammed, and Joan of Arc, were in fact epileptic in origin.

An analysis of van Gogh’s epilepsy and emotionality must not obscure the fact that this great artist also had great strengths (4).

Neurologist, Dr David Bear had seen Van Gogh’s art as ‘Reflecting philosophical and spiritual questing’

Van Gogh was born with a brain lesion’ and had a genetic predisposition to epilepsy and suffered from seizures which doctors, including Dr. Felix Rey and Dr. Peyron, believed to be caused by temporal lobe epilepsy.

There has been fair agreement among experts about the personality traits observable among patients with epilepsy (192030–33). Vincent’s viscosity was manifest by his intense clinging to people he loved, his persevering on details, and a tendency to debate endlessly and to write excessively.

Hypergraphia is a condition causing one to need to write continuously; and is commonly linked to epilepsy. Some believe that the massive collection of over 800 letters Van Gogh wrote during his lifetime could be attributed to this condition.

Don’t Fall For It

DON’T. F A L L FOR IT! he stuttered,
I don’t think so,
this perversion has to go.

In the chronicles of Victorian times,
photo’s of nude children, were fine.
Curiously some assumptions began,
from a wannabe psycho analyst man.

There is no evidence to presume,
Lewis Carroll was a deviant of abuse.
Guesswork and conjecture, runs rife,
however, he was big hearted and nice.

His adoration and affection of child,
doesn’t imply that he had defiled.
I believe, ‘Goldschmidt’ was confused,
in 1933 he hoped for sensational news.

That smear campaign of slander,
has continued on with propaganda.
Tall stories have eventuated from books,
that psilocybin and hookah was mistook.

It’s clear, that, our epileptic genius; Mr Carroll,
wrote about seizures, seen from rabbit hole.
Nothing factual has ever been approved,
however, I object, that he is being accused.

Don’t go falling for that jumbled up hype,

was noted for your delight.

‘According to Neurologist Paul Spiers: Lewis Carroll was probably writing about his temporal lobe seizures. The very sensation initiating Alice’s adventures ~ That of falling down a hole ~ is described in seizures by people with TLE.

Alice has frequent attacks of jamais vu which make her spatially insecure and she has sudden unprompted changes in emotions’ (P. 69-70)

‘The Hypergraphia of Lewis Carroll, van Gogh, Tennyson and Dostoevsky is well documented’ (P. 134)

There are many successful authors, artists, musician’s and creative people who have had epilepsy.  Lewis Carroll, Vincent Van Gogh, to name a few and they all had an enormous creative drive.

The Big Question

Victorians saw childhood as a state of grace;\

A.M.E. Goldschmidt

Today, much of the psychoanalytic criticism of Alice seems out-dated, unsurprising since most of it was written over fifty years ago.

In 1945, Florence Becker Lennon advanced the case that Dodgson had had an unhealthy attraction to Alice with Victoria Through the Looking Glass, the first modern critical biography of him as speculation.

Rich lapis blues and sunbeam golds,
rivers of universe, curling in scrolls.
Whirlpools of passions immersed,
celestial air curves, harmonic swirls.

A cosmic orchestra of mystical lights,
eddy’s and swirls of colourful delights.
Aligned within creation of human origin,
looking out, a fusion, as infinity within.

Circles, rings, immersed in white codes,
amongst greens, violets, pink and golds.
Melding of all polarities, returning to one,
the seeing senses, to be reflected upon.

More alive and multicoloured than sky,
wanting to share what he saw with eyes.
Having the world of time in his hands,
pondering impressions of French lands.

There were great movements at work,
currents of dashed air, he could twerk.
Brushes and easel tucked under arm,
he had that kind of other worldly charm.

His face was gaunt, elongated and slim,
focused in stare, with beard all trimmed.
Galaxy of dreams within his twilight eyes,
musical rhapsodies, of mystical sighs.

Emerged in the illusion of being alone,
as dimensional octaves were atoned.
His sacrifices both harsh and immense,
the purity of his innocence, ultra intense.

Poetically expressing earth to whisked sky,
famed for the brush strokes in Starry Night.
His striking angular asymmetry of face,
was the visible sign of his epileptic grace.

Stars in Mind

“God is a comedian, playing to an audience that’s afraid to laugh.” Voltaire

The religious meaning behind this painting has to do with a letter that Vincent had written some time before. In the letter Vincent wrote he described:

“A great starlit vault of heaven.. one can only call God.”

starry night vincent art art painting

This is the original ‘Starry Sky’

“At present I absolutely want to paint a starry sky. It often seems to me that night is still more richly coloured than the day; having hues of the most intense violets, blues and greens. If only you pay attention to it you will see that certain stars are lemon-yellow, others pink or a green, blue and forget-me-not brilliance. And without my expatiating on this theme it is obvious that putting little white dots on the blue-black is not enough to paint a starry sky.” ~ Vincent van Gogh
