Being a wild child in the 60’s was carefree and fun,
cavorting outside till dark, playing tag and run.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are?”
finding secret hiding places was a favourite lark.
Swinging on swings, were dangerous games,
flying so high that poles lifted, off frames.
Bigger kids pushing the merry-go-round so hard,
adrenalin rushes of terror, being hurled across the park.
Skidding on gravel at full speed,
causing concussions, bloody hands and scarred knees.
“I’m telling on you” were the scariest words,
blackmail and extortion, was rife back in that world.
Remembering back to those chortles of laughter,
and how, I’d survived to live happily thereafter.
