Take your heart for a walk in the woods

“Instructions for living a life.
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.”
― Mary Oliver ~ Good Reads

Poet Mary Oliver was a National Book Award winner and the Pulitzer Prize winning author of 1983’s poetry collection American Primitive.

Much of her poetry is focused on the landscape of New England. That’s where she took long walks in the woods and wrote poems about her relationship with nature, bringing comparisons to Henry David Thoreau and Walt Whitman.

Lose your mind

find your heart,

this is when new adventures can start.

Leave behind the old, plan for the new

become optimistic, explore the “simple” life, views.

Don’t forget to live this life while you’re in it;

other wise, you may find that you will have left your ‘life’

GANESH ~ Image Credit ~ Art by Susan Farrell,

GANESH (Ganesha) is the Hindu God who is known as the remover of all obstacles.

He is known to bring prosperity and good luck.  The chubby, gentle, wise, elephant-headed Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of Hinduism’s most popular deities. “He” is said to be the Destroyer of Vanity and Selfishness. His message conveying that we should accept others just as they are

Ganesh will always hold a special place in my heart, after visiting Mumbai in India many years ago. At the Hindu Temple of Ganesh, I was invited to participate in their sacred ceremony to receive a Holy blessing. The Brahmin Monks placed a garland of flowers around my neck as they gestured prayer and applied tilak to my forehead. (Tilak is a red vermilion powder). As I bowed with respect, I was handed a parting gift of a sweet Holy Toli treat.  (Ganesh temple Udyan ~ Mumbai)  https://goodlucksymbols.com/ganesh/

Typically they aren’t services like you’d see at a church. There
are times during the day when priests will perform rituals and people
gather to watch and receive blessings (often blessed food is given
 out, much like in communion).

“May a thousand elephants give you the strength to face any troubles ahead.”

― Anthony T. Hincks

Plodding along:

Have you ever noticed how Elephants slowly trudge and plod along with their head down? It seems as though they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Perhaps, could this be, because of their everlasting love and support for their fellow community.

“Elephants are extremely intelligent animals and have memories that
span many years. It is this memory that serves matriarchs well during
dry seasons when they need to guide their herds, sometimes for tens
of miles, to watering holes that they remember from the past”

If ELEPHANT is your Totem Animal

Don’t let anything stand in the way of achieving your goals. Remain

persistent and determined. You have an innate hunger for knowledge and continually seek to understand things. Once you set your mind to something, there is no stopping you. ~ Dr Steven D Farmer PhD.

Magical. Moments. Still.

Magical Moments are Still.
there, looking back in time,
recollections your heart captured, enchanting, divine.

Whenever feeling lost, sad or blue,
memories are reminders, charming and true.
Looking forwards, looking back?
time as an illusion, is a reminder of that.

Photos are echoes, captured with your eyes,
wishes from the moon and stars in the skies.
Recall when you knew what to do?
whatsoever to make your dreams come true.

Don’t live your life in dread, lack and fear,
see your answers are so ‘naturally’ clear.
More delights you will find,
rediscovering passions, to lose your ‘thinky’ mind.

Worries about this, that and the other,
what if? your own sense of ‘self’ was recovered?

Writing on

write on epilepsy .jpg

Fifteen years ago, I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, a neurological condition, where the ‘emotional transmitters’ (in my brain) have been damaged.

Which means, that I can have a difficult time processing feelings.

In other words, if I fail to manage my ’emotions’ well, then, I am at risk of an overload of nervous energy and stress, which causes my mind to crash (seize).

Could you imagine, a computer, which has lost its central processing unit? It doesn’t help that I am overly sensitive and feel emotions deeply too. So you can see it has been absolutely essential for me personally, to find real ways to cope with my happy, sad, angry and nervous reactions effectively. This is why I write.

epilepsy changes people live more passionately.jpg

“Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder that  illuminates the relationship between body and mind” . . .

This over stimulation enhances the normal functions of emotions
and memory, causing patients to feel experiences unusually deeply,
to imbue experiences with religious or moral significance and to
record them compulsively in drawing or writing.
In such famous sufferers as Dostoevsky, Tennyson and Lewis Carroll,  these traits may have contributed to lasting works of art” ~
Otherwise known as "The Poets Trait" ~ Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
spares essential functions like attention, concentration and
critical judgement, all of which are necessary to sustain artistry,
at the same time TLE predisposes people to such aspects of
creativity and flexibility.  The combination of these two factors,
unique to this form of epilepsy, may even intensify the ability to
see artistically and  to transform that vision into art.”
~ Dr David Bear, (Research ~ "Seized" ~ Eve LaPlante)

and this is why I continue to research and write on, thanks to Epilepsy… I learn something new every day.

Trust in the universe in everything you do,
Trust isn’t a little thing to be overlooked.
Trust is, perhaps, misunderstood.
Trust in the magic of new beginnings,
Trust enough, to let ambitions run high.
Trust in the future,
Trust in life, that it is your time.

Trust in your beliefs,
Trust in your heart,
Trust in love and luck.
Trust, that it is time to start!

Moons, shadow

In Tarot (18) symbolises: The MOON:

What aspects of yourself do you hide away?

Grow and develop, by combining body consciousness and control.

With realisation of ‘self’, all things are possible. This is a wonderful time for setting intentions, especially in our artistic and romantic lives, or where we are trying to learn to express ourselves.

At times like this, we need to be still, stop the external distractions and once again trust our inner self to see clearly the answer, which will determine our next move, thus ensuring we are staying on the true and right path in our journey through life.

The Moon is all about the subconscious mind and your shadow self. What lies within the depths of your mind? Set aside time to write in your journal, access your intuition and meditate deeply to discover the exciting insights that await you.

You know, Better

There’s never a better expert when it comes to your own health,

than gathering a team of professionals, to test different options for your ‘self’

you ask why? … i tell you, that there is only so much a doctor can know.

your own inner sights and awareness are far better to grow.

Research, double and triple check all of the possibilities

Study in depth others examples and philosophies

trial and examine, what and how do you feel?

this is how you truly, will begin to cope, manage and heal.

Based on a true story, far too long to quote,

about my own life experiences, that is how i know.

medications may add harsh side effects

examine yourself, check carefully,

then you will have no regrets.

Many people who have epilepsy, suffer from mood swings and depression.

“Dilantin and phenobarbitol, the first medications approved for temporal lobe epilepsy, stopped generalized seizures, but still permitted the localized discharges that make the amygdala susceptible to Geschwind syndrome.

Newer drugs such as lamotrigine, topiramate (Topamax), and felbamate (Felbatol) appear to do a better job at quelling electrical activity in the temporal lobes. These drugs also stabilize mood. ~ says Tom Valeo at “Neurology Today” (America)

“Epilepsy is a neurological disorder and seizures are caused by a disruption of the electrical activity in the brain”
