Travel Logs, date July 2016

Halls Creek,

‘I kin hear birds in the morning, as the magical pink sunrise is dawning’ …
Road tripping on through stunning landscapes …from Derby on the Great Northern Hwy …

Passed over ‘Fitzroy Crossing’ about a week ago,
Saw the oldest pub in the Kimberley’s … a popular ‘drinking hole’ for the old weary prospectors and drovers who popped inn here. We saw a sign across the road “no grog, no humbug and no gambling? Not sure what they meant about humbug? But not tempted to put on our ‘to do’ list, so drovered on by, through more cattle stations …

Next … Halls Creek, for an (expensive) fuel pit stop.
Hot as blazes and humid to dusty boots!
A rich gold pioneering history here! In 1985 gold was found … starting Western Australia’s first gold rush … but we just rushed on by … again …

A month later and counting over 4000kms from Perth, a ‘free camp’ stop-over at Mary Pool and guess where we’re going next? …
